Busy law firm in Rockland has an immediate opening for an experienced legal secretary / paralegal to support the firm’s will, trust, estate, and probate practice. Professionalism and teamwork are prized, so the best candidate works well with clients, attorneys, and co-workers, and demonstrates superior attention to detail, thoroughness in work product, exemplary written and oral communication skills, industriousness, and adaptability in a fast-paced workplace. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe required. Experience with WordPerfect and PC Law or legal time-keeping software preferred. Experience with probate, trusts, estates, accounting, or real estate matters very desirable. Willing to train a candidate with the aptitude to learn.
Duties will include all facets of trust and estate planning and probate practice, including communicating with clients, attorneys, staff, the court, and members of the Midcoast community in person, on the phone and in writing; proof-reading and working on legal documents such as contracts, wills, trusts, and deeds; preparing inventories, accountings, probate pleadings, real estate closing packages; reviewing financial statements; notarizing documents; calendaring appointments; tracking and meeting deadlines; preparing invoices; covering front desk/reception on an as needed basis; complying with firm policies; maintaining confidentiality; and performing other duties as required.
